Olivieri and Green Win Championship Belts at 2020 Escape The Rock
Joey Olivieri of Hanover Park and Brandon Green of Paulsboro both won Escape the Rock championship belts on Sunday.
Olivieri won his 100th match and his first Escape the Rock title, and Green avenged two losses from a year ago to become Paulsboro's first champion in nine years.
St. Joseph (Mont.) freshman Jim Mullen finished second at 285 pounds with a loss to Cole Derry of Malvern Prep (Pa.). Paulsboro's Georgio Mazzeo's run as the 120-pound No. 8 seed ended with a defeat against Easton's Brandon Chlestos.
Pope John's Eddie Ventresca suffered a second loss to Notre Dame's Ryan Crookham, also falling in the championship match at the Beast of the East.
The most significant win in the other medal matches came at 145 pounds where Kingsway's Dakota Morris, ranked sixth in the state, decked top-ranked Kaya Sement of Pope John in the first minute.
Pope John's Jack Stoll, who finished seventh at 182, took home the award for the most pins in the least amount of time. He recorded four falls in 4:53.
