WWF and NJ Wrestling Legend King Kong Bundy Dead at 61
The Jersey wrestling community lost a legend yesterday.
WWF Legend King Kong Bundy, real name Christopher Alan Pallies, died at the age of 61 on Monday afternoon, according to his close friend David Herro.
Before all of his professional wrestling fame as King Kong Bundy, Pallies was a two-time region champion at Washington Township.
Standing a 6-foot-4, 458 pounds, Bundy trained under Larry Sharpe at the Monster Factory in New Jersey before making his wrestling debut in March 1981 for the World Wrestling Federation. He'd go on wrestle for the NWA, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling and a handful of smaller promotions before making his WWF debut in 1981.
He was best known for facing Hulk Hogan in 1986 in a steel cage match at WrestleMania 2.
Bundy had guest appearances on the sitcom "Married...with Children."
He was planning to appear next month at WrestleCon in New York City.
